Wendy Williams has some tough rules at her daytime show. One of them is that “No one can be taller than me.”
An insider at “The Wendy Williams Show” did an interview with “Confidenti@l” that was reported by NYDailyNews.com about some of the practices that are being exercised the popular show. The rules may surprise you and tend to say that Wendy is someone that might be tough to work with.
According to the source, “One woman who was on once was never invited back, because the woman was actually taller than Wendy. The woman is smart and well-spoken, but Wendy’s producers said no one taller than Wendy [who’s listed as being 6 feet) is allowed to come on because she doesn’t like it. Apparently you can be pretty, but not pretty and tall. Wendy needs to be the tallest lady on set at all times. Plus, if you are funny — forget it. She also prefers men, because she gels with them better.”
The source also claims that Wendy feels slighted if someone that is a regular on her show does other shows. Someone who had been a regular guest on the show described her experience with the program, “I had been a regular guest on Wendy for over a year. But when I started doing other shows they stopped inviting me back. It is not like Wendy pays me or has some sort of exclusive contract with me. And she isn’t ‘GMA’ or ‘Today.’ Now she is left with all the not-tall experts that the big shows don’t want.”
One source feels that Wendy’s practices are odd but at least she is honest about it, “What is surprising about all of this is not Wendy’s views, but the fact that her staff are comfortable expressing them to PR people. It’s odd, but the honesty is kind of refreshing.”
To give some history, a few years ago, Wendy’s radio show came to an end after Nicole Spence, her long-time partner, filed s*xual harassment claims against the network. She says that Wendy’s husband Kevin often made advances toward her and that Wendy was aware of his behavior. So, maybe her workspace isn’t a healthy, happy place to be after all.
